ETA FAQ’s

  • What is ETA?

    ETA stands for Electronic Travel Authorization- it’s a new travel documentation system implemented by the United Kingdom for non-UK citizens visiting the United Kingdom. ETA approval is required before entry into the country.

  • What countries require ETA approval?

    ETA Participating Countries are The United Kingdom (which includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland).  

  • I am traveling abroad to destinations within the UK and within mainland Europe from abroad. What applications are required?

    If you are traveling abroad from any non-EU, non-UK country and plan on having a stop in the United Kingdom and an EU country, you will need to apply for and be approved by both ETIAS and ETA.

  • I have residency within a UK country. Do I need to apply for ETA?

    No, if you have residency within a UK country, you will not need ETA approval for entry. However, you will need to apply for ETIAS in the event you are visiting mainland Europe.
